American rap icon Snoop Dogg has revealed ambitious plans to transform Welsh football club Swansea City into a “global name” and help guide the team back to the Premier League. The 54-year-old entertainer and entrepreneur is part of a high-profile ownership group at the Championship club, alongside former Real Madrid star Luka Modrić and U.S. business personality Martha Stewart.

Snoop Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, became a minority investor in Swansea City in July 2025, marking his first major step into professional soccer ownership. In comments to Wales Online, he said he wants to be hands-on in the club’s development and take it in “a direction maybe it hasn’t been before.” His goals include improving commercial revenue through new sponsorship deals and broader publicity that will boost the club’s profile globally.

“I want to introduce sponsorship deals and publicity that will make them a global name,” Snoop Dogg explained, noting that financial strength is essential for achieving promotion back to the Premier League the top tier of English football that Swansea last competed in from 2011 to 2018.

Celebrity Investors and Big Ambitions

Joining Snoop Dogg in the ownership group are Luka Modrić, the Croatian midfielder and Ballon d’Or winner, and Martha Stewart, who became a co-owner in December 2025. Swansea’s management believes their involvement can significantly improve the club’s commercial potential and global recognition.

Head coach Vitor Matos has welcomed the ambitious plans, saying that the commitment from high-profile owners shows Swansea is in “good hands” and reflects the club’s strong ambition for the future.

Growing the Club’s Reach

Despite Swansea currently sitting mid-table in the EFL Championship, Snoop Dogg remains optimistic about the club’s prospects and long-term project. He has yet to attend a match in person, though his son has represented him at games, and he has expressed a strong desire to meet the club’s passionate fan base.

Snoop Dogg’s involvement has already generated considerable attention, especially following his appearance at the launch of Swansea’s 2025-26 home kit. His plans include exploring new commercial opportunities and potentially attracting further high-profile partners — but only if they can offer meaningful contributions to the club’s growth.

With Snoop Dogg’s enormous global fanbase and passion for the sport, Swansea City’s profile could receive a major boost as they pursue both competitive success and broader recognition in the international football arena.
