The Agrihouse Foundation has successfully held the 8th edition of its flagship event, Gathering of the Royals, at the GNAT Hall in Accra, bringing together traditional women leaders and key stakeholders in the agricultural sector.

The annual event, held on March 31, convened more than 600 Queen Mothers from across all 16 regions of Ghana, alongside policymakers, agribusiness leaders, development partners, and market actors.

This year’s edition was held under the theme “Seeds of Change: From Leadership to Legacy – Women Transforming the Agrifood System,” highlighting the critical role women continue to play in strengthening Ghana’s food systems and driving rural economic growth.

Organizers described the event as a major platform for dialogue and action, focusing on addressing gaps within the agricultural value chain, including food supply challenges, infrastructure limitations, and the need for stronger agribusiness industrialization.

A key feature of the event was the Agri-Royal Panel, which brought together Queen Mothers actively engaged in farming and agribusiness to share practical experiences, challenges, and solutions from their communities. The discussions aimed at bridging the gap between traditional leadership and modern agricultural policy.

In addition, a new segment—Market Queens’ Traders Conversations—was introduced to incorporate the perspectives of women traders. The session focused on issues such as transportation, pricing, post-harvest losses, and market accessibility, further expanding the scope of dialogue within the agrifood system.

The event also emphasized action-oriented outcomes. As part of commitments made in previous editions, selected Queen Mothers received agricultural support packages, including day-old chicks, feed, and vaccines, to be distributed among youth in their communities as a means of promoting agribusiness and employment.

Executive Chair of the foundation, Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa, noted that the initiative has evolved from advocacy to measurable impact, with a strong focus on empowering women farmers, including those at the grassroots and persons with disabilities.

Over the years, the Gathering of the Royals has grown into one of Ghana’s leading platforms for engaging traditional authorities in agricultural development, influencing policy discussions, and fostering partnerships across the sector.

The event also featured participation from high-profile dignitaries and stakeholders, reinforcing its significance as a national forum for shaping the future of agriculture through inclusive leadership.
