I’ll never perform at the National Theatre again — Kojo Antwi vows

Ghanaian music icon Kojo Antwi has drawn the curtain on his performances at the National Theatre.

Years back, the National Theatre was Kojo Antwi’s main venue for his popular December 24 concert.

But speaking in an exclusive interview with Nana Adwoa Annan on Onua TV – monitored by GhanaWeekened, the legendary Highlife musician announced his decision to permanently retire from performing at the iconic venue.

According to the ‘’Afafranto’’ hitmaker, the National Theatre once a perfect fit for his concert, no longer aligns with his artistic aspirations.

The former Chairman of the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO) reminisced about the intimate charm of the National Theatre in his early days but emphasized that his evolution as a performer necessitated a grander platform.

“The place has fallen short of a theatre…maintaining the place has become difficult for those who are handling the theatre… and me as an artist, I don’t belong to a hall…I realised that the place wasn’t helping me. But an artiste doesn’t belong to a hall… All the things I did there were about God”, Kojo Antwi stated
