Togbe Afede’s attack; sack Adom Otchere – Volta Youth to Agyepong

The Volta Youth Network is calling for the dismissal of Paul Adom Otchere from Metro TV over his attack on the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, Togbe Afede XIV.

“The Volta Youth Network, therefore, calls on Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong and the Management of Metro TV to sack Paul Adom Otchere with immediate effect, lest they become accomplices in the conduct of this unfit character and for which we shall advise ourselves accordingly.” – the group said in a statement signed by its Convenor, Mr. Richarcd Fidel Agbeko Bedi

The group is the latest to join the tall list of personalities and groups condemning the Good Evening Ghana show host for what they described as his unprovoked attacks on the revered chief and the former President of the National House of Chiefs.

Togbe Afede XIV has returned the over GHc360,000 paid him by the state as ex-gratia for serving as a member of the council of states for 4years. According to Togbe he does not think he merited the payment for a work he described as part-time for which salaries were paid with other benefits.

For Togbe, the country should not be dollying out such monies to personalities who have in their own volution sought to serve the country, especially during the ongoing economic hardships.

This gesture from the King appears to have angered his one-time “boy” who took to his Metro TV platform to attack him saying his action sought to score popularity and undermind the government.

VOLTA YOUTH NETWORK (VYN) CONDEMNS THE ATTACK ON TOGBE AFEDE XIV AND EWES AND DEMANDS THE DISMISSAL OF PAUL ADOM OTCHERE FROM METRO TV GOOD EVENING GHANA SHOW.

The Volta Youth Network has learned with shock and dismay, an unprovoked attack on the personality of His Royal Highness Togbe Afede XIV, the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State and the immediate past President of the National House of Chiefs and Ewes in general by some low-class political hirelings of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration using the traditional and new media.

The attack on Togbe led by the notorious journalistic mercenary Paul Adom Otchere on the Good Evening Ghana show on Metro TV is not only an unjustifiable provocation but also completely unwarranted, disingenuous, unfair and unacceptable to say the least.

We remain at a loss why the rude attacks on Torgbe Afede XIV, for doing the rightful thing by returning to the State, an ex-gratia payment he rightly considered being unmerited, and in his belief that such precious and scarce resources are better spent on critical areas of our economy that needs critical governmental attention. Though unfortunate, we are not surprised because of the current state of our Nation Ghana, where state machinery is at the forefront of reckless grabbing of State resources by state officials and their assigns. Togbe Afede’s gesture in the light of these, therefore, comes as a huge affront to hollow-minded people like Paul Adom Otchere: so uncultured and bereft of all values, (Has he now passed his law school exams?) to comprehend the height of integrity and patriotism at play in this matter.

For the NPP government to engineer such attacks on a man with outstanding intelligence and integrity, sound educational background, business acumen, and international consultant, aside from being a Traditional ruler over a noble and intelligent people of Asogli State by a low-class rented political dog-like Paul Adom Otchere who could not pass his law school exams and is not even qualified to be Togbe’s employee indeed leaves much to be desired.

The only conclusion we can draw after analyzing the consistency with which NPP government officials and their hirelings have sought to denigrate the Chiefs and people of the Volta Region since their coming into office in January 2017 is the fact that an undeclared sophisticated tribal war has been waged on the people of Ewe extraction and Voltarians for that matter because of our perceived political choices and high moral standings in society which irritates the demons in this corruption-prone NPP administration.

Would a fraction of those unruly and uncomplimentary comments be thrown at other Chiefs of less stature from Ashanti and Eastern Regions without a national brouhaha? Togbe is simply being attacked because he is an Ewe!!!

The Volta Youth Network believes that the media as the fourth estate of the realm is a powerful force in leading the course of development and providing a voice to people and societies who must /need to be heard. Such an institution is sacred and should be manned by persons with high integrity who adheres to strong ethical values that guide the fraternity and not for school dropouts and a clown-like Paul Adom Otchere who thinks and acts based on the direction of his stomach.

The Volta Youth Network, therefore, calls on Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong and the Management of Metro TV to sack Paul Adom Otchere with immediate effect, lest they become accomplices in the conduct of this unfit character and for which we shall advise ourselves accordingly.

We wish to state clearly that Chiefs are the embodiment of the spirit and souls of the people they lead and so any attack on them especially when they act in consonance with the belief and values of their customs and societies, is an attack on the people they lead. We also further state that we revere our Chiefs and so will not tolerate valueless people who think the media space they occupy is an avenue to denigrate others to attack, malign and denigrate them for money.

The Volta Youth Network finds Paul Adom Otchere’s sizzling attack on the revered Chief; His Royal Highness Togbe Afede XIV the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State unwarranted, unacceptable and an affront to the Youth and people of the Volta Region. We shall do everything within the laws to prevent further provocation from shameless individuals like Paul Adom Otchere and others like him.

We are at this juncture, calling on all well-meaning Ghanaians and voices of reason to do the needful in all of this but while waiting we declare Paul Adom Otchere a persona non-grata in the Volta region and so shall not be able to guarantee his safety if found anywhere in the Volta Region. He will have himself to be blamed if he steps his foot in the Volta Region.

We also call on all Persons of Volta descent throughout the Country to treat Paul Adom Otchere and people like him as an ENEMY and a threat to our very survival.
