Saudi Prince Found Dead in London Hotel After Fatal Mix of Alcohol and Drugs, Inquest Finds
UK coroner rules 29-year-old royal died by misadventure after suffering cardiac arrest caused by multiple substances

LONDON, United Kingdom — A British coroner has ruled that a 29-year-old Saudi prince died after consuming a fatal combination of alcohol, party drugs and prescription medication while staying at a luxury hotel in London.
An inquest heard that Prince Abdullah bin Fahad bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Jalawi Al Saud was found unresponsive on the bathroom floor of his room at the Marriott Hotel in Kensington on November 25, 2025, after checking into the £600-a-night hotel for what was intended to be a week-long stay.
Emergency responders were called to the hotel, but efforts to revive the prince were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Fatal Combination of Substances
The inquest at Inner West London Coroner’s Court heard that toxicology tests found the prince had a blood alcohol concentration nearly three times England’s legal driving limit, along with potentially fatal levels of gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB)—commonly known as a party drug—as well as traces of cannabis and anti-anxiety medications, including Xanax.
Medical evidence presented to the court concluded that the combination of substances caused cardiac arrest.
Previous Treatment for Substance Misuse
Court proceedings also revealed that Prince Abdullah had previously sought treatment for substance misuse.
He had undergone detoxification at the Priory Clinic in southwest London before later receiving further care at another rehabilitation facility. Medical professionals reportedly found no evidence that he posed a suicide risk before he was discharged.
Coroner Rules Out Suicide
Assistant Coroner Jean Harkin concluded there was no evidence that the prince intended to end his life or that anyone else was involved in his death.
The court heard there was no suicide note, no signs of foul play, and CCTV footage showed the prince was alone during the final hours before he was found.
The official verdict recorded was death by misadventure, a legal conclusion used in the United Kingdom when a person dies accidentally while engaging in a risky act.
Funeral Held in Saudi Arabia
Following confirmation of his death, the Saudi Royal Court announced funeral prayers for Prince Abdullah in Riyadh, where members of the royal family and senior government officials paid their final respects.
The conclusion of the inquest brings to an end months of speculation surrounding the prince’s death, with investigators determining that it resulted from accidental multi-drug ingestion rather than suicide or criminal activity.
