NDC USA Youth Organiser Emmanuel Issah Abudu Enters Deputy National Youth Organiser Race
Two-term diaspora youth leader says his grassroots experience and international exposure will help build a stronger, more inclusive NDC Youth Wing

The Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) USA Chapter, Emmanuel Issah Abudu, has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of Deputy National Youth Organiser of the party, promising to strengthen grassroots mobilisation and deepen the role of the Ghanaian diaspora in youth development.
His announcement adds momentum to the race for one of the NDC’s key national youth leadership positions ahead of the party’s internal elections.
Speaking after declaring his bid, Mr. Abudu said his decision is rooted in service rather than personal ambition, stressing that young people remain the backbone of the NDC and deserve leadership that understands their sacrifices and aspirations.
“This is not about me. It is about the young people of our party who continue to sacrifice for the NDC and deserve leaders who will go all out for them,” he said.
A journey from TEIN to the diaspora
Emmanuel Issah Abudu’s political journey spans both Ghana and the diaspora.
He began his activism through the Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN) before rising through the party’s grassroots structures to serve as Atlanta Branch Youth Organiser and later becoming a two-term Youth Organiser of the NDC USA Chapter.
His experience has seen him coordinate youth mobilisation, organise party activities and strengthen the NDC’s presence among Ghanaian communities in North America.
During the 2024 general election campaign, Abudu also served on the NDC National Youth Wing campaign team, participating in nationwide mobilisation efforts aimed at increasing youth participation and support for the party.
Vision for the NDC Youth Wing
If elected Deputy National Youth Organiser, Abudu says his priorities will focus on empowering young party members through practical opportunities rather than rhetoric.
His campaign is built around five key pillars:

Strengthening grassroots mobilisation across all constituencies.

Promoting youth employment and entrepreneurship.

Expanding leadership development programmes for young members.

Reinforcing the Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN).

Building stronger collaboration between youth structures in Ghana and the diaspora.
He believes the Ghanaian diaspora should be viewed as more than a source of campaign support, describing it as a valuable partner in innovation, mentorship and professional networking for young people.
Building on the current leadership
Abudu praised the outgoing leadership of the NDC Youth Wing for laying a strong foundation and said his ambition is to consolidate those achievements while introducing new ideas that reflect the changing needs of Ghana’s youth.
Rather than promising radical change, he says his goal is to help build “a more vibrant, inclusive and responsive Youth Wing” capable of representing young members across Ghana and abroad.
Nationwide consultations begin
As part of his campaign, Emmanuel Issah Abudu is expected to embark on extensive consultations with regional and constituency youth organisers, TEIN executives, party activists and grassroots members across the country.
The consultations, he says, will allow him to listen directly to the concerns of young party members and develop policies that genuinely reflect their expectations.
With his declaration, the contest for Deputy National Youth Organiser is shaping up to be one of the most closely watched races within the NDC’s internal elections, as candidates present competing visions for the future of the party’s youth movement.
