Gomoa Central Residents to Stage Protest Over Disputed Land Boundaries — A-Plus
Independent MP says communities are demanding justice over boundary demarcation, warning that unresolved land disputes continue to threaten peace in the Central Region

Residents of Gomoa Central are preparing to embark on a major public protest over what they describe as the wrongful demarcation of traditional land boundaries, according to the area’s Member of Parliament, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A-Plus.
The planned demonstration follows growing tensions between communities in Gomoa Central and neighbouring Effutu, where disputed boundary lines have sparked confrontations, property destruction and increasing fears of further violence.
A-Plus backs residents’ protest
Speaking on the dispute, A-Plus said the protest is intended to draw national attention to the long-standing boundary disagreement and to demand a fair resolution from the appropriate state authorities.
According to the MP, many residents believe portions of Gomoa Central’s ancestral lands have been wrongly assigned during boundary demarcation exercises, creating uncertainty over land ownership and community jurisdiction.
He insisted that the demonstration would be lawful and aimed at protecting the legitimate interests of the affected communities.
Tensions rise over boundary dispute
The land dispute has become one of the most sensitive issues in the Central Region, with disagreements over traditional boundaries affecting settlements around the Oguaakrom–New Winneba corridor.
Recent clashes between youth groups from the affected communities resulted in injuries, destruction of property and heightened security concerns, prompting calls for government intervention before the conflict escalates further.
Community leaders say the uncertainty has also affected farming activities, housing development and investment in the disputed areas.
Call for peaceful resolution
While supporting the residents’ right to protest, A-Plus appealed to demonstrators to remain peaceful and avoid actions that could inflame tensions.
He urged government agencies responsible for lands, local government and boundary administration to engage traditional authorities and community stakeholders in finding a lasting solution.
The MP stressed that sustainable peace can only be achieved through dialogue, transparency and respect for historical land rights rather than confrontation.
Authorities urged to act
Residents are expected to use the protest to petition the relevant government institutions, demanding an independent review of the disputed boundary demarcation.
As preparations continue, attention is now turning to how state authorities will respond to one of the Central Region’s most contentious land disputes, with many hoping the demonstration will pave the way for dialogue instead of further conflict.
