Neighborhood Community Officers (NCOs) from the 23rd Division of the Toronto Police Service took part in a table tennis tournament organized by the Ghanaian-Canadian Association of Ontario (GCAO).
The tournament was the climax of a three-month youth table tennis program, which ran from April to June 2023 and was sponsored by the Foundation for Black Communities.
Constable Kevin Adjei, speaking on behalf of the Neighbourhood Community Officers team, said that the police are trying to be more involved with the community so that people can get to know them better.
He explained that previously, the police only appeared in the community during distress calls, but now they are bridging that gap by actively participating in day-to-day community activities.
Constable Adjei added that all officers grew up in a community, so there is no need for them to be isolated from the same environment in which they attained their current status.
