2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers: Otto Addo names Black Stars squad

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has announced his squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic.

The squad sees notable absences due to injury concerns and tactical decisions.

Key players such as Baba Iddrisu, Inaki Williams, Majeed Ashimeru, Joseph Paintsil, Nathaniel Adjei, Denis Odoi, and Daniel Amartey are unavailable for the crucial matches due to injuries. Additionally, Andre Ayew and Abdul Baba Rahman have been left out of the squad by the former Borussia Dortmund coach.

Despite these absences, Addo has assembled a strong lineup, emphasizing the depth of talent available for the Black Stars. The selected squad includes:

Ghana will face Mali on Thursday, 6 June 2024 before taking on the Central African Republic on June 10. The squad selection reflects Otto Addo’s strategy to blend experience with emerging talent to secure a strong position in the qualifiers.
