NADMO, Military Intensify Rescue Operations in Flood-Hit Communities
Joint emergency teams evacuate stranded residents as heavy rains continue across parts of Ghana

The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), in collaboration with the 48 Engineer Regiment of the Ghana Armed Forces, has intensified rescue and evacuation operations in flood-affected communities as heavy rains continue to wreak havoc across parts of Ghana.
The joint emergency response teams have been deployed to several flood-prone areas to evacuate stranded residents, provide immediate assistance, and ensure the safety of affected persons following widespread flooding triggered by persistent rainfall.
Rescue personnel, using specialized equipment and military engineering resources, have been working around the clock to move residents trapped by rising floodwaters to safer locations. The operations are also focused on assessing the extent of damage to homes, roads, and other critical infrastructure.
According to NADMO officials, the collaboration with the military forms part of a broader emergency response strategy aimed at minimizing the impact of the floods and preventing loss of life.
The 48 Engineer Regiment, known for its expertise in disaster response and engineering support, has deployed personnel and equipment to assist in search-and-rescue missions, clear obstructed routes, and facilitate access to communities cut off by floodwaters.
Several communities have experienced severe flooding in recent days following continuous rainfall, with many residents forced to abandon their homes as water levels rapidly rose.
Authorities have urged residents living in low-lying and flood-prone areas to remain vigilant and cooperate with emergency responders during evacuation exercises. They have also advised the public to avoid walking or driving through flooded areas, warning that strong currents and submerged hazards could pose serious risks.
The Ghana Meteorological Agency has forecast additional rainfall in parts of the country, raising concerns that the flooding situation could deteriorate if precautionary measures are not strictly observed.
Meanwhile, NADMO has assured the public that it remains on high alert and is working closely with other state institutions to provide relief items and temporary shelter for displaced families.
As rescue operations continue, government officials are appealing to residents to heed safety advisories and promptly report emergencies to the relevant authorities.
