Maintain Credibility, Reduce Commentary – NDC Elections Director Advises Mussa Dankwah

By Boakye Stephen, Kumasi, Ghana | Reporting for Ghanaian News, Canada

Mahdi Jibil, Acting Director of Elections for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has advised pollster Mussa Dankwah to maintain credibility in his work while reducing the frequency of public commentary, particularly on social media.

“I think so far he has shown some credibility… however, one thing I have a challenge with is that he is talking too much of late,” Mr. Jibil said on JoyNews AM Show.

He warned that excessive public engagement risks diluting the value of polling data, even as early tracking polls suggest NDC is gaining ground over the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Mr. Jibil also alleged that historical electoral outcomes were shaped by irregularities, reinforcing the need for careful analysis.

Commentary: Credibility in public polling is critical, especially in a politically charged environment. Pollsters must balance transparency with restraint, allowing data to speak for itself, lest commentary overshadow facts and create unnecessary polarization.

Asiedu Nketia Assures Ashanti: NDC Won’t Let You Down

Johnson Asiedu Nketia, NDC National Chairman, has assured residents of the Ashanti Region that the party remains committed to fulfilling campaign promises made during the 2024 general elections.

During his Ashanti Regional “Thank You Tour,” Mr. Asiedu Nketia emphasized the importance of accountability and regular performance assessments. He highlighted ongoing projects in education and water supply and stressed the need for unity within the party.

He cautioned against internal disputes over positions, urging the removal of non-performing officials while maintaining grassroots mobilization. “Although the challenges inherited were significant, we are beginning to stabilize the country and improve living conditions,” he said.

Commentary: Political commitments must translate into tangible results. The NDC’s credibility in Ashanti will hinge on delivering services and maintaining transparency, not just on symbolic gratitude tours. Citizens deserve measurable progress.

Right Accountability Network Africa Calls for Independent Probe Into Alleged Assault on Ibrahim Mahama

By Boakye Stephen, Kumasi, Ghana | Reporting for Ghanaian News, Canada

Kevin Gyimah, Executive Director of Right Accountability Network Africa, has urged the Ghanaian government to assign an independent body to investigate the alleged assault on Ibrahim Mahama, arguing that the Ghana Police Service cannot investigate itself.

“The answer is quite straightforward. The Ghana Police Service shouldn’t be investigating itself,” Mr. Gyimah said, recommending CHRAJ as the ideal agency. He referenced prior abuses by security personnel and the need for structural reforms to restore public confidence.

The incident, which emerged in a video showing Mr. Mahama’s alleged assault, has reignited national debates on police accountability and the effectiveness of internal inquiries.

Commentary: Independent oversight is critical for justice. Reliance on internal investigations undermines public trust. Ghana must strengthen checks and balances to ensure citizens’ rights are protected, regardless of status or influence.
