Former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho, has launched a strong verbal attack on former Sports Minister and NDC Member of Parliament for Odododiodio, Nii Lante Vanderpuye, declaring that his political career is over.
Anyidoho’s remarks come amid an apparent political disagreement involving the two prominent figures of the governing NDC. In comments reported by GhanaWeb, Anyidoho took aim at Vanderpuye and suggested that the legislator’s political influence and future prospects had significantly declined.
The former NDC communications strategist did not mince words in his assessment, telling Vanderpuye that his political career was “finished.”
The comments have added another layer to political tensions within the NDC, particularly as the party continues to navigate internal disagreements and competing interests among its members.
Nii Lante Vanderpuye is a veteran politician who has represented the Odododiodio constituency in Parliament and previously served as Minister of Youth and Sports. His long involvement in Ghanaian politics has made him a prominent figure within the NDC.
Koku Anyidoho, meanwhile, has also been a major figure in Ghanaian political communication. He served as a Deputy General Secretary of the NDC and has remained outspoken on issues concerning the party and its leadership even after leaving the position.
Anyidoho’s latest comments are therefore likely to generate discussion among NDC supporters and political observers, particularly over whether his assessment reflects a broader sentiment within the party or is simply part of an ongoing personal and political disagreement.
The remarks also raise wider questions about the future political relevance of long-serving politicians as Ghana’s political parties continue to experience generational changes and internal competition.
For now, Vanderpuye’s political future remains a matter for voters and the NDC’s internal processes to determine, despite Anyidoho’s emphatic declaration.
GhanaianNewsCanada will continue to monitor developments surrounding the disagreement and bring readers updates as they emerge.
