Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show on Tuesday, October 27, the minister said the investigation had drawn attention to an issue requiring careful examination by the appropriate authorities.
Mr Iddrisu expressed appreciation for the work of the media organisation and its investigative correspondent, while stressing that any prosecution must be supported by credible evidence.
He said the priority was to establish the facts surrounding the allegations and ensure that any legal action taken was grounded in the available evidence.
The minister’s comments follow a JoyNews investigation that has generated public concern about student safety, school administration and the handling of complaints involving alleged misconduct in educational institutions.
The allegations have prompted calls for a thorough investigation and accountability where wrongdoing is established.
Mr Iddrisu’s remarks underscore the distinction between exposing allegations in the public interest and determining criminal responsibility through the appropriate legal process.
The case has also renewed attention on the responsibility of school authorities to protect students and ensure that concerns about their welfare are handled promptly and appropriately.
COMMENTARY
Investigative journalism can expose problems that might otherwise remain hidden, but publication is only one step towards justice. Authorities must establish the facts, protect students from intimidation or further harm, and ensure that any accused person receives due process. The credibility of the response will depend on whether the investigation is thorough, impartial and focused on safeguarding students.
