Ghana Secures Renewal of Work Permits for Citizens in The Bahama
Agreement Expected to Benefit Ghanaian Professionals in Construction and Engineering

The Government of Ghana has secured the renewal of work permits for Ghanaians employed in The Bahamas’ construction and engineering sectors, following high-level diplomatic engagements between the two countries.
The breakthrough was announced by Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who revealed that the Government of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas had agreed to renew the permits of Ghanaian professionals working under private business initiatives.
According to the Foreign Affairs Minister, the issue was successfully resolved after constructive discussions with Bahamian authorities, bringing relief to many Ghanaian workers whose employment status had faced uncertainty.
“The Government of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas has agreed to renew work permits for Ghanaians in the construction and engineering sector who have been working under private business initiatives. We have successfully resolved the issue following constructive discussions,” Mr. Ablakwa stated.
A Diplomatic Success
The agreement is being hailed as another significant achievement in Ghana’s diplomatic efforts to protect the welfare of its citizens living and working abroad.
Mr. Ablakwa expressed appreciation to The Honourable Darron S. Pickstock, MP, Bahamas’ Minister of State for Immigration, for what he described as his remarkable leadership and cooperation throughout the negotiations.
He noted that the outcome demonstrates the value of sustained diplomatic engagement and the strong relationship between Ghana and The Bahamas.
