Accra, Ghana Ghana Post has successfully delivered the 100,000th chip-embedded Ghanaian passport directly to an applicant’s doorstep, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing reform of the country’s passport service delivery system.
The milestone delivery, which took place on December 24, 2025, in Osu, Accra, underscores Ghana Post’s renewed commitment to efficient public service delivery and a key promise to citizens to make essential paperwork more accessible.
At the event, Mr. Bernard Yaw Atta-sonno, General Manager of Commercial and Business Development at Ghana Post, described the achievement as the fulfilment of a promise made in partnership with the Government of Ghana and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to deliver passports directly to applicants wherever they choose.
He acknowledged that the journey had challenges in its early stages including issues with names, addresses, and locations but said improved logistics and systems have since enabled consistent delivery “across the length and breadth of the country.”
Originally, Ghana Post set a target to deliver 100,000 passports by the end of 2025. The milestone was achieved ahead of schedule, in early December, highlighting the institution’s growing operational capacity.
Madam Rita Sraha, Managing Director of Ghana Post, thanked the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Communications for entrusting Ghana Post with the project, saying their support was “critical to the success of the initiative.”
Madam Sraha also used the occasion to emphasize Ghana Post’s broader transformation agenda, noting that the organization is now “better resourced, better skilled and more capable than ever.” She encouraged Ghanaians to trust Ghana Post with all their courier needs, saying the institution has demonstrated its capacity to deliver on its promises.
One of the beneficiaries, Ms. Gladys, described her experience as smooth and professional, noting that receiving her passport at home eliminated the usual stress associated with passport collection. Her positive experience reflects the growing public confidence in the new delivery system.
As Ghana Post closes 2025 with this landmark achievement, the 100,000th passport delivery not only represents a numerical milestone but also symbolizes institutional renewal, restored public trust, and improved service delivery for Ghanaian citizens.
