Since the development of vaccines to combat the Covid-19 pandemic last year, there have been, unfortunately, some conspiracy theories to discredit the efficacy of such vaccines the worst of them being that Covid-19 vaccines contain Satan’s microchips.
Also, the misinformation circulating about the safety of taking the vaccines has been overwhelming and alarming to our community. There has been rumors of instant collapse and dying to deformity and infertility among people who have been taking the vaccine. The Ghanaian News have found such rumors to be unfounded.
There are rather numerous benefits for taking any of the vaccines developed and approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) to stop the spread of Covid-19.
The fight against Covid-19 has seen vaccine development move at record speed, with more than 170 different vaccines in trials. However, the authorized vaccines in Canada include Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech, AstraZeneca and Janssen.
Since Covid-19 spreads from person to person through droplets aerosols created when an infected person coughs, sneezes, sings, shouts, or talks when one doesn’t wear a face mask and/or a reasonable distance of 6 feet from each other, the Public Health department has recommended the wearing of face masks and keeping a distance of 6 feet in public places as safety protocols. However, Covid-19 infected persons can get seriously ill and even die, especially the old people and frontline workers The vaccines are the best means to prevent and fight such dangers for the following reasons.
COVID-19 can cause severe medical complications and lead to death in some people. There is no way to know how COVID-19 will affect you. If you get COVID-19, you could spread the disease to family, friends and others around you.
Our community is particularly at high risk not only for getting covid-19 but also to get complications. Since most of our Community members, especially those in GTA live in high risk neighborhoods it is important that we go for the Vaccine shot
Getting a COVID-19 vaccine can help protect you by creating an antibody response in your body without you having to become sick with COVID-19.
A COVID-19 vaccine might prevent you from getting COVID-19. Or, if you get COVID-19, the vaccine might keep you from becoming seriously ill or from developing serious complications.
Getting vaccinated also helps to protect people around you from COVID-19, particularly people at increased risk of severe illness from COVID-19 such as your parents or grandparents.
The benefit and importance of being vaccinated does not necessarily eradicate the Coved 19; even though, it brings a sense of hope and comfort to the world, knowing that after all, there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
The economy will re bounce back, Children will be able to attend normal classes, to curb the anxiety some of the children are experiencing.
Overly spending of government funds could be recovered, and companies and businesses would be confidence to re build and shape their lost business.
Family will be able to live their normal lives without fear of causing the death of another person’s life. Minimization of mental health cases would be taken care of, and most of all global economy would be in full force.
Moreover, COVID-19 vaccination is a safer way to help build protection and the economy on which we depend for our livelihood.
The only way to get back to our normal way of living is to encourage members of the society to get vaccinated, so that we can re build our economy and forge ahead
Any attempt by any person, group of people or associations to dissuade any person who is eligible to take the Covid-19 vaccine is a big disservice to our community
