Israel’s war on Gaza live: Israeli forces kill 6 aid seekers, wound dozens
Israeli forces again opened fire on Palestinians waiting for food aid in Gaza City, killing six and wounding at least 83 others, according to media reports.
The attack came hours after Israel bombed a United Nations food distribution centre in southern Rafah city, killing at least five people, including a member of the UN Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA). The US said Israel needs to ensure the safety of humanitarian workers.
Israel’s military said it plans to transfer about 1.4 million Palestinian civilians trapped in Rafah to “humanitarian islands” in the middle of Gaza before launching a ground invasion.
At least 31,272 Palestinians have been killed and 73,024 injured in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7. The death toll in Israel from Hamas’s October 7 attack stands at 1,139 and dozens continue to be held captive.
