Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, has explained his decision to change legal representation, stressing that the charges he faces are serious and require the strongest possible defense.
Speaking after formally appointing lawyer and former Member of Parliament Samuel Atta Akyea to lead his legal team, Wontumi said his decision was based solely on the need to adequately defend himself in court and should not be interpreted as a lack of confidence in his previous lawyers.
According to him, the legal issues before the court carry significant consequences, making it necessary to assemble a team with the experience and expertise required to handle the matter effectively. He emphasized that he remains committed to cooperating with the judicial process and believes the courts will give him a fair hearing.
“The charges are serious, and I remain committed to defending myself,” Wontumi stated while addressing concerns over the change in legal representation.
The NPP stalwart has recently been at the center of legal proceedings that have attracted significant public and political attention. His court appearances have drawn supporters, party officials, and legal observers keenly following developments in the case.
