Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus and Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central Constituency, has announced an ambitious plan to construct a landmark waterfall in Gomoa by next year, as part of a strategy to stimulate tourism and invigorate the local economy.
Speaking to Joy Prime during the ongoing Gomoa Easter Carnival, A Plus explained:
“The last time I went to Dubai I saw penguin. People leave Ghana to Dubai to see a penguin. Next time when you come to the Gomoa Easter Carnival, you will see a waterfall. As we speak, currently there is no waterfall in Gomoa. But next Easter Carnival you will see a huge waterfall, maybe bigger than any waterfall you can find anywhere. There are so many people who travel to other countries to see waterfalls which are artificial. And we can build waterfalls here. I will build a waterfall in Gomoa.”
The project forms part of a broader vision to transform Gomoa into a vibrant tourism hub. The four-day Gomoa Easter Carnival, running from April 2 to April 5, 2026, includes cultural showcases, street performances, and music from top Ghanaian artistes such as Kwabena Kwabena, Ofori Amponsah, Kofi Kinaata, Kuami Eugene, Samini, and Shatta Wale, alongside emerging talents.
The initiative aims to create a tourism-driven economic boost, attracting visitors and stimulating local businesses, positioning Gomoa as a major cultural and leisure destination in Ghana.
