Ghana to fork out over a million euros annually to land Herve Renard

Chris Hughton is no longer the head coach of Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team after supervising Ghana’s abysmal showing at the 2023 AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire.

Hughton got sacked earlier this week after the Black Stars crashed out of the 2023 AFCON at the group stage after failing to score a win in three games.

In the wake of Hughton’s exit, several candidates have been named as possible replacements for Hughton as Black Stars head coach.

Tom Saintfiet-recently the head coach of The Gambia-, Michael Essien, recently sacked AS Roma coach Jose Mourinho and Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club head coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum have been named as possible candidates.

However, former Black Stars assistant coach Herve Renard has emerged as a top candidate due to his AFCON title-winning runs with Zambia in 2012 and Cote D’Ivoire in 2015.

Renard scored £999, 961 or 1,171, 734 euros annually in salary as head coach of Saudi Arabia at the 2022 FIFA World Cup according to Finance Football but earns £345,000 or €400,000 as head coach of France’s Women’s National Football Team according to The Athletic.

His contract with the French National Women’s Team expires in August 2024.
