The Member of Parliament for the Kwadaso Constituency in the Ashanti region, Dr. Kingsley Nyarko, has taken a swipe at the Deputy Ranking Member on the Finance Committee and Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo, for his attacks on Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Dr. Nyarko has sent a word of advice to the avowed critic of Dr. Bawumia, to go and take a few lessons from the Ace Football commentator, Kwabena Yeboah of GTV, if he wants to abandon his work as an MP, while he downplayed the false claim of an economic mismanagement by Government.
Contributing to the 2023 Budget debate on the Floor of Parliament on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, the Deputy Ranking on the Finance Committee, Isaac Adongo, tried to ridicule the Vice President, who is the head of the Economic Management Team, by comparing him to a Manchester United defender, Harry Maguire who has been scoring own goals against his club.
According to Adongo, like the Footballer Maguire, Dr. Bawumia has become the economic Maguire scoring own goals against the economy by supervising a poorly performing Ghanaian economy as the Head of the Management Team.
He argued that, prior to the 2016 elections, Dr. Bawumia was projected to be an economic mastermind who was going to help the NPP Government halt the depreciation of the Cedi and boost economic growth.
“Mr. Speaker, when we gave this Maguire the opportunity to be at the center of the defence, he became the risk of our own goal. Dr. Bawumia, our economic Maguire is now tackling all the fundamentals of our economy and destroying all of them,” Mr. Adongo said on the Floor.
Speaking in defence of the Vice President during his contribution to the debate on the same Budget on Thursday, December 1, 2022, Dr. Kingsley Nyarko, indicated that Mr. Adongo woefully failed in his attempt to ridicule Dr. Bawumia but in the process, succeeded in discrediting himself as a finance person worth his sort.
“Mr. Speaker, on Tuesday, I listened to the Deputy Ranking on the Finance Committee, Mr. Isaac Adongo trying to jettison his long-earned career as a Finance person. I don’t know if he is aspiring to be a soccer coach or a soccer pundit or a soccer commentator.
“He tried to link a footballer by name Harry Maguire to the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana. And in so doing, he messed up woefully and I will encourage him that if he desires to be a soccer pundit, he should sit at the feet of the legendary Kwabena Yeboah, so that he can learn it better,” he took a swipe at him.
