The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations (MOCDTI) has dismissed claims circulating on social media alleging that the sector minister, Hon. Samuel Nartey George, has misused or “blown” public funds.
In an official statement issued to media houses, the ministry said it had taken notice of a document being widely circulated online alongside accusations that public money had already been spent irresponsibly.
According to the ministry, the document in question is part of a broader official submission requesting Commitment Authorisation from the Ministry of Finance in line with established public financial management and procurement procedures for the 2026 fiscal year.
Officials explained that the request covers planned projects, operational activities, and programme interventions expected to be undertaken by the ministry during the year under review.
The ministry emphasized that the request is still awaiting approval from the Ministry of Finance and that no money has yet been released, disbursed, or spent concerning the items listed in the circulating document.
In the statement, the ministry stressed that allegations suggesting public funds had already been squandered were inaccurate and misleading.
The statement noted that:
“No funds have been released, disbursed or expended in relation to the items referenced in the circulating document.”
The ministry therefore described claims of financial misconduct as lacking context and urged the public to treat such allegations with caution.
Officials further reaffirmed their commitment to transparency, accountability, and compliance with Ghana’s public financial management regulations in carrying out the ministry’s responsibilities.
The statement was signed by the ministry’s Public Relations Directorate and forms part of efforts to address growing public discussion surrounding government expenditure and accountability in the digital technology and communications sector.
