Build more schools in addition to churches – MP appeals to Pentecost Church

The Member of Parliament for Upper Denkyira West Constituency in the Central Region, Daniel Ohene Darko has appealed to the Church of Pentecost to build schools in addition to Churches especially in the rural areas in the country to help strengthen the wheels of education in the rural areas where education is less accessible

He indicated that there are so many churches built in the rural areas but these areas are lacking access to schools, adding that it is utterly something which is inimical to the progress of education in the villages.

The MP made these comments when he was delivering a speech on 26th June, 2022 at the Pentecost Church at Ayanfuri in the Upper Denkyira West District.

He further stated that in all the 9 rural communities that he visited he discovered that the most beautiful buildings in the communities are the Church of Pentecost edifices, however in all these communities children as young as 4 years have to walk between 3 and 4 kilometers to attend KG at the outskirt of the town.

Mr. Ohene Darko argued that without a proper foundation of education at the basic level how can the children read the Bible and understand the scriptures at large.

He emphasized that Education is the key to life and development for every country especially Ghana and for that reason he is building KGs in communities that are without schools to push the quality of education in the country.

He stressed that he had cut a sod for the construction of a KG at Nyameadom in his constituency and hoped to build more in the rural communities within the Constituency.

He again said that incidentally the KG is being built next to the Church of Pentecost building to paint a vivid picture that the Communities are in need of schools and not ample Churches.

“Children in this community walk 4 kilometers to Besease to attend KG. In the rainy season, the children are unable to do so,”

He appealed to the leadership of the church to reconsider their priorities and build more schools, especially the basic ones to take care of the educational needs of the rural communities.
