African Games 2023: Black Princesses through to semis after win over Tanzania
The Black Princesses of Ghana are through to the semifinal of the women’s football event at the ongoing African Games following their win over Tanzania.
Ghana came from behind to record a 2-1 win at the Cape Coast Stadium on Tuesday night to secure their qualification.
Tanzania took the lead in the game courtesy a brilliant strike from Simba FC’s Aisha Juma Mnunka in the 22nd.
The goal came as a result of a quick breakaway after winning the ball in their own half.
The Princesses built momentum in the last 10 minutes first half and were rewarded for their efforts when Comfort Yeboah’s delightful cross was met by Tracey Twum to level the score just before the break.
The return from recess saw Yusif Basigi’s side take control of the game and take the game to their opposition paving the way for the winner.
Twum burst forward with the ball and played Mukarama Abdulai through on goal with the player’s little dink beating the Tanzania goalkeeper to give Ghana the lead.
Ghana will face Uganda in their last group game on March 15.
