What began as a desperate search for a missing university student has ended in heartbreak after family members confirmed the identity of a body recovered from a Cape Coast beach.
The deceased, Innocentia Avinu, was a Level 200 student at the University of Cape Coast.
According to family accounts, she was last seen leaving her hostel before she failed to return.
After days of searching, relatives visited the police station and identified photographs of the recovered body.
University officials subsequently joined family members at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital mortuary where formal identification was completed.
Police say preliminary examinations found no obvious signs of physical violence.
The body remains at the mortuary pending a post-mortem examination.
Friends, classmates, and members of the university community have expressed grief following the confirmation of her death.
