Amid escalating U.S. military pressure on Iran, where large-scale anti-government protests have erupted, U.S. President Donald Trump stated on the 31st that dialogue remains the priority for now. In an interview with Fox News, Trump said, “The plan is for them to talk to us,” and “Let’s see if we can do something,” according to a post by the reporter on their X (formerly Twitter) account. However, he added, “We have a bigger fleet than we had in Venezuela,” and if negotiations fail, “we’ll see what happens,” hinting at potential military action.

Meanwhile, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on the 30th that Trump instructed his aides to prepare a swift and decisive attack plan that would not lead to a prolonged war. With U.S. military assets heavily deployed in the Middle East, the Trump administration is reportedly discussing various military objectives, including not only strikes on Iran’s nuclear program and ballistic missile arsenals but also regime collapse. The ideal option under discussion is a sufficiently powerful strike to force Iran to abandon its nuclear ambitions and halt suppression of dissent, complying with U.S. demands.
