Just hours after TVET workers laid down their tools nationwide, the strike has already been called off, with staff returning to work across the country.
Authorities say the industrial action did not follow proper procedures and violated provisions of the Labour Act, prompting intervention from the National Labour Commission.
While calm has been restored, the sudden turnaround raises an important concern:
Were the issues resolved, or simply paused?
My Take: Ending a Strike Is Not the Same as Solving the Problem
Calling off a strike is good.
But it does not automatically mean:
Concerns have been addressed
Workers are satisfied
The system is stable
Sometimes, it only means pressure has been applied.
The Real Concern
If underlying issues remain:
Frustration will return
Trust will weaken
Future disruptions may follow
Final Word
The focus should not just be on ending strikes, but on preventing them.
Because stability built on silence is not real stability.
OSP Changes Strategy: Two Accused Turn State Witnesses in GH¢291 Million NPA Case
By Boakye Stephen, Kumasi, Ghana | Reporting for Ghanaian News, Canada
In a dramatic twist in one of Ghana’s high-profile corruption cases, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has dropped charges against two accused persons and turned them into state witnesses.
The case, involving alleged extortion of over GH¢291 million, continues against former NPA boss Mustapha Abdul-Hamid and other defendants.
The two individuals reportedly chose to cooperate with investigators, leading to the withdrawal of charges against them.
My Take: This Is a Strategic Move, But It Must Lead to Truth
Turning suspects into witnesses is not unusual.
It is a legal strategy used to:
Strengthen cases
Expose deeper networks
Secure convictions
But it also raises a key concern:
Are we trading accountability for testimony?
The Critical Balance
Justice must ensure that:
Truth is uncovered
The main actors are held responsible
The public understands what really happened
Final Word
This case is bigger than individuals.
It is about proving that:
No one is above the law, and no amount of power can shield wrongdoing.
