Rapper Nicki Minaj sparked headlines this week after publicly declaring her strong support for former U.S. President Donald Trump, even calling herself his “number one fan.” The Trinidad-born artist made the remarks during a high-profile event in Washington, D.C., where she stood beside Trump on stage and enthusiastically backed his administration’s initiatives.
At the Trump Accounts Summit, Minaj not only praised Trump’s leadership but also showed off what she called a Trump Gold Card — a special visa card linked to a fast-track route toward U.S. permanent residency and eventual citizenship. She shared a photo of the shiny card on social media with the caption “Welp…” and wrote that she was “finalizing that citizenship paperwork as we speak.” According to her, the card was given to her “free of charge.”

Originally known for critiquing Trump’s immigration policies in the past, Minaj’s shift has drawn widespread attention. Despite ongoing protests in the U.S. over immigration enforcement and fatal incidents involving immigration agents, she stood by her statements, saying negative reactions to her support don’t affect her and, in fact, motivate her to continue.
The Trump Gold Card itself was introduced as part of a new immigration initiative aimed at wealthy applicants who contribute to U.S. investment funds. Official guidelines say applicants typically make a $1 million contribution and pay processing fees to qualify for this expedited path to residency — though Minaj’s case has been framed as unique.
During the event, Trump praised Minaj, praising her resilience and even joking about emulating her famous long nails. The moment has fueled both support and criticism online, underscoring how the intersection of celebrity and politics can generate intense public debate.
