Ghanaian forward Prince Adu Kwabena has set his sights firmly on earning a place in the Ghana Black Stars squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, describing the tournament as a defining milestone in any player’s career.
The 22-year-old attacker, who currently plays for Czech side Viktoria Plzeň, believes representing Ghana on the world’s biggest football stage would rank among his greatest achievements.
“[The] World Cup is not a small thing… not every player gets a chance to play [at the competition],” he said in an interview.
Adu Kwabena earned his first call-up to the national team during international friendlies against Japan and South Korea in November 2025 and has since continued to build his case for inclusion.
He featured in recent preparatory matches against Austria and Germany, gaining valuable experience as Ghana intensifies preparations for the global tournament.
At club level, the forward has been in impressive form, scoring eight goals across all competitions this season, a performance that has strengthened his push for a place in the national squad.
“It will be a great opportunity for me… I am going to focus on my club form and keep working hard to get on the list,” he added.
His determination comes at a time of transition for the Black Stars, following the appointment of Carlos Queiroz as head coach. The experienced tactician is expected to name his final squad ahead of the tournament deadline in June.
Competition for places is expected to be intense, with several Ghanaian players performing across top European leagues and pushing for selection.
Ghana has been drawn into a challenging group alongside England, Croatia, and Panama, making squad selection even more crucial as the team aims to make a strong impact on the global stage.
For Adu Kwabena, the journey to the World Cup represents not just a personal ambition but also an opportunity to contribute to Ghana’s success on the international stage.
As preparations continue, his performances at club level and in training camps are likely to play a decisive role in determining whether he secures a place in the final squad.
